As a photographer, I love capturing the natural moments of life unfolding. I strive to bring out the natural beauty in my clients. I do this best by treating my clients as friends. This allows me to photograph without forced posing. I’ve created this website with this intention in mind. By answering as many questions about photography as possible in advance, when we meet, we can focus on creating and capturing unique and beautiful images and having fun!
My start in photography came at a young age when I was just 8 years old. I was taken under the wing of Neil White, a professor of photography who last I heard was teaching at San Francisco State. He took me out and taught me how to see life through the eyes of a camera and how technically to achieve the effects I wanted. My formal career began in Santa Cruz, California, where I earned my B.A. from UCSC in Photography/Fine Arts. I started commercially in Santa Cruz and went full time when I moved to San Francisco in 2003. I’ve been working as a professional photographer for over 6 years now, and I absolutely love it. For me, there is nothing better than working with my clients to create images of lasting beauty and meaning for their lives.
Recently I was selected to teach a “4 nights” class through the PPGBA and also won photograph of the month for August 2006. I have also received numerous awards for my images and albums through these and other organizations.
Photography is a very complicated and ever changing medium. Especially with the dawn of digital technology, more and more people are becoming photographers, but I’m afraid that fewer and fewer have a true understanding of how to realize the full power of this medium. I maintain my commitment to keeping up with changing photographic technologies in part through my active memberships in the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Professional Photographers of the Greater Bay Area (PPGBA), the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) and Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI).

From Yelp: “How did you DO that?!”
So we had this group photo session we needed done quickly: just some quick shots, we didn’t need anything fancy, not a studio session, no giganto album, no frilly borders: just so we can maybe recognize the people. I’m sure I could have done it with my point-and-shoot and be done with it.
But oh no. Yep, if I had done it with my point-and-shoot it would have looked like, well, I had done it my point-and-shoot. I honestly don’t quite understand how he created the photos that he did. I was there for the photos, I saw the people he took pictures of. We don’t look THAT good. He made that quick job look like we had a full-day photo shoot each. Everyone looked stunning. The lighting, the angle, the composition: it was all well thought out. Wow.
Mischa the magic man behind the lens: thank you.
