Google Rankings: Help from the BNI site?

Bradley,

You probably know that one of the ways in which Google ranks sits is by how many links from other sites link back to your site. I don’t know how BNI members’ URLs are currently displayed on the website. Is there any way to make sure that people with websites get “credit” from Google for having a link from our chapter’s website?

    Hi Udi,

The simplest (and best) way to do this is just to have links from other sites to your site–as you’re saying. For example, in my company description, I link to my own site. If you keep an eye on your statistics, you’ll see how many hits come from that link.

Also the actual URL doesn’t matter so much anymore (whether it’s /?=49 or /bni/udi/), Google will figure it out.

    I hope that helps.

It is http://bniwit.com. Check out what happens when you do a Google search on “Montreal BNI.” Could we set it up in the main search engines that if you type “san francisco BNI” we pop up?

I can absolutely put such keywords into the meta tags, but more important is the content we have on this site. In other words, if we have content that says, “San Francisco BNI” that will help Google (and those using Google) find us using those keywords.

Anyone else have keywords they think are important? Also, they have quite a useful site up there in Montreal, are there features you think we should have?
